First Ever Hull & East Riding Mumbler Awards

First Ever Hull & East Riding Mumbler Awards celebrate and recognise the best of things to do for families in East Yorkshire – Winners Announced.

Over 16,000 votes were cast by members of the public, voting for their favourite family things to do locally. Now the winners have been revealed!

The Hull & East Riding Mumbler held their first ever Family Awards this year to celebrate and recognise the best of things to do for families in East Yorkshire, the winners were announced on 5th June 2020. The general public were encouraged to nominate their favourites things to do with children in the local area across 8 categories. The top 5 most nominated in each category were then taken forward as finalists and the public then voted again for the winners.

Voting took place in January and February 2020 and results were due to be announced at an awards ceremony on 20th March, however this had to be cancelled due to the Covid19 pandemic. Results were therefore announced online instead. It has been a great boost to the local businesses and organisations in the finals, many who are still closed due to the Covid19 pandemic or struggling to stay in business.

Best Local Family Attraction:

WINNER: The Deep.  Highly Commended: Williams Den

Best Local Free Day Out:

WINNER: East Park, Hull.  Highly Commended: Streetlife, Hull Museums

Favourite Under 5s Class or Activity:

WINNER: My Baby Can Dance.  Highly Commended: Music with Mummy Beverley, Kingswood & Surrounding areas

Favourite Over 5s Class or Activity:

WINNER: Flex Dance.  Highly Commended: State of the Arts Academy

Favourite School Holiday Club or Camp:

WINNER: Little Bunny Bakers.  Highly Commended: Goldstar Active

Favourite Child Friendly Eating Out Venue:

WINNER: Home Farm, Brewers Fayre Hessle.  Highly Commended: Armstrong’s Ice Cream Tiki Bar

Healthy & Active Kids Award:

WINNER: Water Babies.  Highly Commended: Footy Tots

Best Community Project or Charity for Families:

WINNER: Bundles of Joy.  Highly Commended: Abbie’s Fund

The awards have been organised by the Hull and East Riding Mumbler, a website set up by local mum Rachael Smith 5 years ago, to list and share all things to do with children across the area. She wanted to recognise and celebrate the fantastic things for families that we have here in East Yorkshire.

“5 years ago I had a newborn baby and a 3 year old and no idea what there was to do in the area with them. Through building and running The Hull & East Riding Mumbler I have been surprised and delighted by how many incredible activities, classes, attractions and events we have locally for families. I wanted to give them all the recognition they deserved. The first ever Hull & East Riding Mumbler Awards celebrate the businesses that wouldn’t usually appear on a Local Business Awards platform. All of the nominees and finalists do a fantastic job providing things to do and places to go for families in East Yorkshire and it has been a real boost to celebrate them all, especially during the ongoing Covid19 pandemic when a lot of them are still closed.
