Festival of Words Poetry Competition - a chance to win up to £500
Fri 16th November 2018Entries are now open for the East Riding Festival of Words Poetry Competition, with a chance for adults to win a top prize of £500.
This year’s theme is ‘My Story’. Entrants can choose how they write about this; it could be based on their life story, a pivotal moment or even where they see their future – the options are endless!
The competition is just £3 per adult entry. Submissions can be anything up to 45 lines, on a sheet of A4 paper. Pick up an entry form at any East Riding Library, or enter online at https://www.festivalofwords.co.uk/poetry-comp/
Primary and secondary school age children can also enter for free, with a prize pot of £50 for each category.
The closing date is Saturday 1 December, and entries will be judged by a panel of published Yorkshire poets, led by James Nash. Winners will also be invited to perform their poetry at the ‘Poet Fest’ event at North Bridlington Library on Saturday, 26 January, 2019 – tickets are available.
