A Beverley skin care consultant who specialises in understanding the science of facial touch and its emotional benefits is celebrating the publication of the first article from an expert group she founded.
Dr Katerina Steventon, founder of Independent Skincare Consultancy Ltd and Director of Cosmetics Cluster UK, brought together experts in neuroscience and cosmetic science to discuss facial touch and its implications for cosmetics for the article ‘Exploring the Opportunity for Facial Touch in Beauty'.
The piece, a collaboration between clinician Steventon, Ph.D, Prof. Francis McGlone, Daniel Whitby, Stewart Long FRSC, and Walter Gibson, Ph.D, was published in international scientific journal Cosmetics and Toiletries® and is one in a series of Dr Steventon's articles about skin health and well-being.
The article is an insider's view of a discussion held in October 2024 in Manchester, where experts in neuroscience and cosmetic science gathered to discuss facial touch and its implications for cosmetics.
Contributor Mr Long from Cutest, The Skin Specialists, said: "This has been a fascinating and thought-provoking project to be involved in, working with such experts to explore this emerging new area of science and the opportunities for our industry."
"Many thanks to my co-authors for an invaluable discussion on the topic of facial touch techniques and scientific evidence required to substantiate emotional wellbeing benefits in future," said Dr Steventon.
"We invite the industry to take an active part in the discussion and will explore facial touch as a modality at the Cosmetics Cluster UK's 2025 Skin Health & Wellbeing event later this year."
