Evening improvements for one of Beverley’s busiest roads
Fri 29th September 2023Road improvements are to be made in the evening to one of Beverley’s busiest roads.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is to carry out an upgrade to Swinemoor Lane, costing £71,000, which is designed to protect the road from traffic wear and prolong the life of the existing surface and repairs carried out earlier this year.
The work will be carried out between the Swinemoor Lane roundabout and the Grovehill Road junction and is scheduled to start on Monday 9 October.
The improvements to the road surface will be carried out over five evenings, Monday to Friday, between 7pm and midnight. The existing road markings will also be refreshed.
A temporary road closure will be needed during the evening work only. The road will reopen outside working hours.
During the temporary closure, traffic will be diverted via the A1174 Hull Road, A164 Minster Way, A1079 Beverley Road and A1035 Grange Way, Dog Kennel Lane.
Residents and businesses within the affected area will still have access to their properties, however, some delays are to be expected due to the nature of the works.
Access will also be provided for emergency services.
Please note that bus stops within these works will be disrupted and further detailed information will be provided at each bus stop by the bus operators.
The work will be carried out by contractors Henry Williams & Son Ltd, on behalf of the council.
The scheme is part of the council’s annual programme of planned road improvements.
Councillor Paul West, the council’s portfolio holder for environment and transport, said: “This road is one of the busiest in Beverley and the work has been purposefully planned to take place in the evening to avoid most of the traffic.
“The work will involve the application of a penetrative protection system, which will protect and prolong the life of the road surface.”
