East Riding Youth Dance is back for 2019!
Thu 21st February 2019East Riding Youth Dance is looking for young people to sign up for their exciting community dance programme, alongside recruitment for the East Riding Youth Dance County Company.
The 12 weeks of community dance is an opportunity for young people, Year 5 and upwards, to work closely with professional dance artists in a fun, energetic and inspirational environment.
The programme provides a platform for those with little or no experience to try a range of dance styles, including contemporary and urban, whilst developing their creative technique and skills.
Through the course of the programme, each group will contribute toward the creation of an original dance piece to be staged at the biggest Youth Dance Platform in the region, showcasing a vast array of performances into one explosive event taking over Bridlington’s signature venue, Bridlington Spa, on Sunday, 9 June, 2019.
Former East Riding Youth Dance and County Company member, Jorden Brooks, said:
“East Riding Youth Dance is an inspiring programme for young people who have a passion to move. Regardless of previous experience, ERYD welcomes anyone to join their challenging and enjoyable sessions every week. Members will build up their confidence levels in all aspects of their life and develop creatively through developing dance routines of their own. East Riding Youth Dance has opened so many amazing doors for me and has led me into full time training at one of the top contemporary schools in the UK. With that I cannot thank them enough!”
The youth dance groups are taking place for 12 weeks in six areas of the East Riding:
Bridlington Spa, Bridlington Mondays from 25 February
Pocklington Arts Centre, Pocklington Mondays from 25 February
**Please note the initial session in Pocklington on 25 February will take place at Pocklington Junior school**
Memorial Hall, Beverley Tuesdays from 26 February
Community Primary School, Hornsea Tuesdays from 26 February

East Riding Youth Dance is also holding auditions for talented dancers to join the very successful County Company. Members of the company will have exceptional opportunities for creating their own dance work, enhancing their skills and performing to audiences across the region whilst working with some of the country’s top professionals and dance companies.
