East Riding students receive their A-Level grades
Thu 13th August 2020Students around the East Riding are receiving their A-Level results today, hoping to build upon the excellent grades achieved in the area in recent years.
Exams were unable to be held this year because of the Covid-19 pandemic, so students have been awarded grades calculated by teachers, which have then been moderated by exam boards.
As a result, the Department for Education will not publish any performance data based on tests, assessments or exams for 2020.
Councillor Julie Abraham, portfolio holder for children, young people, education, health and social care at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “This year’s A-Level students have shown great resilience in uncertain times and they deserve great credit.
“Young people across the East Riding are to be congratulated on their results this year, and once again we have seen some remarkable individual achievements. We should not underestimate the amount of hard work that our students put in before Covid-19 changed everybody’s lives.
“They have missed out on many of the experiences that previous year groups went through, including the opportunity to open results with their friends and teachers.
“I wish them well as they continue on their education journey, or take the first steps in their chosen career.
“We must also thank schools and colleges in the East Riding, for all the exceptional work their staff have done, and parents, carers and families for the support they have shown students.”
