Earth Hour to be marked at Beverley Minster on 25 March
Fri 17th March 2017East Riding of Yorkshire Council have announced that the floodlights at Beverley Minster will be switched off for an hour on the evening of 25 March, in support of Earth Hour, between 8.30pm and 9.30pm.
Earth Hour is co-ordinated by WWF – an annual global celebration where people across the world switch off their lights for one hour to show they care about the future of the planet.
Last year, a record 178 countries took part in Earth Hour, and this year UK landmarks like Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace will join the global switch-off.
Mike White, head of Streetscene Services at the council, said : “I am delighted that we are able to bring Earth Hour to Beverley, and that the town can show its support for this global campaign.”
