Don't Miss 'Fallen Leaves' at ERT
Wed 7th November 2018Friday 9th - Sunday 11th November 7:30 pm
In the autumn of 1914, Kaiser Wilhelm promised the German troops that “you will be home before the leaves fall from the trees”. Over four years later as the leaves were falling, and over 18 million humans had fallen, the war finally ended.
'Fallen Leaves' takes place as the leaves fall exactly one hundred years later in commemoration of the close of World War One. It will tour Yorkshire and beyond from late October 2018 before a run at the East Riding Theatre where the final performance will take place on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, one hundred years to the day.
The show will not be a solemn one, but one that is ultimately uplifting. It will comprise a cavalcade of sketches, songs, letters and other material through which the stories of six real people from Yorkshire, three men and three women, who were alive in 1918 will be told.
Fallen Leaves will highlight the global nature and magnitude of the Great War but pay particular attention to the contribution and courage of the people of Yorkshire.
