County Choir recruiting new members
Fri 3rd September 2021After an enforced absence of more than a year due to the pandemic, East Riding County Choir is resuming rehearsals again in September under its new Music Director, Paul Dewhurst.
Originally from East Anglia, Paul is organist and director of music at Bridlington Priory, a position he has held since the beginning of 2020.
Before that, he held a similar position at Leeds Minster. Since 2016 he has also been the conductor of the Hull Choral Union. The choir normally rehearses in the Hexagon centre in Beverley, but will initially be using St Mary’s Church, North Bar Within. Its first performances will be Handel’s Messiah in Beverley Minster and Carols in Bridlington Priory, both in December.
The choir is keen to welcome new members, especially tenors and sopranos. If you think your voice is a bit rusty, don’t worry - everyone else’s will be. Their first rehearsal is on Monday 6th September.
Details of membership can be found on the choir’s website.
