Council again advises residents and visitors to stay at home this Bank Holiday weekend
Thu 7th May 2020As the VE Day Bank Holiday weekend approaches, East Riding of Yorkshire Council is again reminding visitors and residents of the importance of staying at home, and not visiting the coast, Local Nature Reserves, and other attractions.
Councillor Richard Burton, leader of the council, said: “We must again ask all our residents and visitors to stay at home this weekend. Do not visit the coast, or other attractions, as unnecessary visitors to these areas put extra strain on our emergency services, and of course we need to continue to maintain social distancing, to help save lives and protect the NHS.
“Why not celebrate the VE Day bank holiday at home, by joining the silence at 11am, having afternoon tea and raising a toast in your own garden, and watching the special programmes on television?
“The advice remains to minimise travel, not to make any non-essential car journeys, and to maintain social distancing at all times, by keeping at least two metres apart.
“We very much look forward to welcoming visitors back in the future, but at the moment, you can help everybody by staying at home.”
