Congratulations to Beverley Charity 'Bundles of Joy' - winner of Hull Daily Mail Charity Champions 'Heart of East Yorkshire' Award
Wed 27th September 2017Claire Raper is the founder of a charity which in just 10 short months has helped nearly 100 families! Claire has boundless energy, as well as a family to look after, but her enthusiasm to help others less well-off, is engaging and inspirational. Which is why she has been recognised as a Charity Champion and is a very worthy winner of the 2017 Heart of East Yorkshire Award.
Claire said : "I’m still in shock. As a finalist of the Hull Daily Mail Charity Champion I was delighted to know the Bundles of Joy word was being recognised. However, on attending the awards dinner last week I was actually presented with the Charity Champion winners certificate. I was amazed, very humbled and very proud. It’s not just about me, it’s about all those who donate and support the charity too. At the end of the evening there was also going to be an overall winner being crowned the 2017 Heart of East Yorkshire. I sat in my seat happy with my award that I just gained. Then as myself my husband Mark and my trustee Clare sat there listening to the presenter describe the winner we realised it was me. To hear the words “and the winner of the 2017 Heart of East Yorkshire Award is Claire Raper from Bundles of Joy” was a wonderful yet a surreal moment.
Bundles of Joy has made a huge difference in just 10 months. We’ve helped nearly 100 families and this means what I set out to do is working. I have great support and thank those around me for what they do, too."
Bundles of Joy makes up packs of essentials from donations for babies and children and their parents. Families in need in Hull and the East Riding are identified by health professionals, children’s centres, nurseries and other agencies. The vision is to make a difference to local families who need a helping hand.
Word has gotten round just through the power of Facebook. Donations of pre-loved mother, baby or children's items to go into a Bundle are always needed. Contact Claire Raper directly on 07443 189366 or through https://m.facebook.com/BundlesOfJoyCharity/ The charity is also looking for a local business to sponsor them, so please contact Claire directly if you can help.
