Commuted Sums to benefit Petanque players in Molescroft

Molescroft Parish Council have been awarded £20,600 funding from East Riding of Yorkshire Council as part of Commuted Sums from local housing developments. The funding has been awarded towards extending the Petanque Piste at Molescroft Pavilion.
The total scheme cost is £22,796.40, with £20,600.00 from Commuted Sums and £2,196.40 from Molescroft Parish Council.
The funding will enable the parish council to extend the current petanque pistes and build a new piste next to the existing site to increase the capacity at Molescroft Petanque Club.
Mac Fleming, Vice Chair of Molescroft Parish Council, said: “We are very pleased with the grant from East Riding of Yorkshire Council to expand this facility, which has exceeded expectations and become a very popular community facility.”
Suham Sidani, Club Secretary at Molescroft Petanque Club, said: “We are delighted to receive this grant to expand the facility, which will expand the club and increase our contribution to the community. With this expansion, the facility will be large enough to host national events and will allow us to expand the club to offer junior training sessions and more community sessions. We have also had schools express an interest in using the facility and learning the game.”
Councillor David Tucker, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s portfolio holder for planning, infrastructure, and housing, added: “The award of these Commuted Sums provided by local housing developments as a condition of their planning approval is great news for Molescroft and the Petanque Club. I wish them all the best for the future, and am very pleased that we have been able to facilitate this funding.”
