Sophie Rollo from East Riding Youth Justice Service has been awarded a commendation from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner in recognition of her exceptional work transforming support for victims of crime.
Sophie has been recognised for creating a service where victims feel heard, supported, and confident to come forward, through her compassionate, trauma-informed approach. She has also helped children to truly understand the impact of their actions, promoting accountability and lasting change.
This work was formally recognised during a HM Inspectorate of Probation (HMIP) inspection in January 2026, where the victim offer was described as “exceptional” and put forward as an example of best practice nationally. The service was assessed as Outstanding and received full marks by HMIP.
Councillor Victoria Aitken, Cabinet Member for children, families and education said: “I’m delighted Sophie’s work has been commended. Her leadership is making a tangible difference - improving outcomes for victims, strengthening trust, and helping to build safer, more connected communities. Alongside her work with victims, Sophie is also providing real opportunities for rehabilitation for young people."
