Christmas events and late-night shopping across the East Riding
Mon 28th November 2022A wide range of Christmas events and late-night shopping dates are taking place in many East Riding towns and villages to provide an opportunity for residents to support local businesses this Christmas.
A variety of Christmas activities, many of which have been part-funded by the council’s Do it for East Yorkshire Fund (DIFEY), will be taking place at the following locations:
Beverley – run by East Riding of Yorkshire Council
Wednesday, 7 to Friday, 9 December - Made in East Yorkshire Market, Saturday Market, 10am – 6pm
Sunday, 11 December - Festival of Christmas, various locations, 10am – 4pm
Cottingham – part-funded by DIFEY
Sunday, 4 December - Christmas Festival, village centre, 10:30am – 4:30pm
Driffield
Friday, 2 December - Christmas Festival including lights switch on, Market Place, 5 - 8pm
Sunday, 4 December - Christmas Artisan Market, 11am – 3pm
Goole
Two Rivers Community Pantry have recently had a DIFEY bid approved for a town centre and Market Hall event on Friday, 2 and Saturday, 3 December. Further details to be confirmed by Two Rivers Community Pantry.
Hedon – part-funded by DIFEY

Friday, 2 December - Christmas Festival including lights switch on, The Square, 5 - 9pm
Hornsea
Friday, 25 November - Christmas lights switch on and late-night shopping, Newbegin
Saturday, 26 November – Hornsea Collective Marketplace event, Town Hall, 10am – 4:30pm

Thursday, 1 December - Christmas Market and late-night shopping, Market Place, 4 – 8pm
Pocklington
Sunday, 27 November - Christmas Market, Market Place, 1 – 5pm

Saturday, 3 December - Christmas Market including lights switch on, Market Place, 4:30 – 8pm
Withernsea – part-funded by DIFEY
Saturday, 3 December - Christmas in the Valley event, Valley Gardens, 4 - 8pm
Councillor Jane Evison, portfolio holder for economic growth, investment and tourism at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “Whilst the Christmas events in Beverley are well established, it is fantastic to see so many of our towns and villages are getting involved with markets and festivals of their own. These activities are a fantastic way of showing support to our local businesses whilst also enjoying this joyful time of year within our communities.
“The late-night shopping offering will be a major benefit to those residents who work during normal opening hours and I look forward to seeing our high streets thriving in the festive period.”
