Choral Classics at Beverley Minster
Mon 8th January 2024Join the Tallis Consort at Bev erley Minster in February as they take you on a journey of the finest choral music written over the last five hundred years. You will hear the early music genius of Claudio Monteverdi, the best of continental Europe courtesy of Mozart and Fauré, to the contemporary harmonious wizardry of Eric Whitacre and John Rutter.
The professional singers are accompanied by former Beverley Minster Assistant Organist Ian Seddon, and joined by BBC Chorister of the Year participant (2023) Rhys Powell in one of the nation's favourites - Mendelssohn's well-loved 'O for the Wings of a Dove'.
The Tallis Consort is a semi-professional vocal ensemble combining the North of England’s finest singers. The membership of the consort is unique by creating a nurturing environment where talented young musicians stand side-by-side with recent music graduates and professional singers alike. The consort typically numbers twenty singers performing a vast repertoire with an emphasis on Renaissance polyphony.
