BIg Draw Living Lines at The Treasure House in Beverley
Tue 10th October 2017Every year The Big Draw Festival takes place around the UK during October. It is for anyone who loves to draw, as well as those who think they can’t.
On Saturday, 14 October, the Treasure House in Beverley is celebrating this year’s Big Draw theme of Living Lines by inviting visitors to get creative in a variety of ways while exploring what’s currently on offer at the Treasure House, focusing on Lines that Grow and Lines that Move.
There will be free drop-in activities for visitors of all ages from adults to children, including under 5s, as well as a book-in children’s workshop. The free event runs from 10am to 3pm. All materials provided and no drawing skills are required.
Lines that Grow
In the Art Gallery and Education Room, visitors will be invited to have a go at drawing or sketching plant forms, inspired by the amazing work of German photographer and amateur botanist Karl Blossfeldt currently being exhibited on the first floor.
Education officer Sarah Hammond said : "We aim to display people's drawings so that they ‘grow’ around the spaces in the building.
"We’ve also got some fun plant-themed craft and play activities especially for under 5s in the Education Room from natural objects to handle and explore to leaf and flower collage and more."
Lines that Move
In addition, book now for the Zig-A-Zag-A-Draw workshops for children aged 7 and upwards.
Artist Penny Barron will be hosting a fun interactive drawing workshop which will enable children to create a piece of artwork and then see it see dance to music.
Each workshops lasts for 1 hour and costs £5.
