Beverley Soup Will Dish Out Funding For Local Ideas
Fri 27th May 2016The idea started in Detroit, USA, where an entrepreneurial and community-spirited bunch started Detroit Soup to combat the decline in investment in the arts and similar ventures. 5 years later, after 95 dinners, the community have given $85,000 to worthy causes, whether that's start-ups or charities, big or small ideas.
Hundreds of Soup events have now popped up all over the World, with many in the UK. New to the town, Beverley Soup is an event where local people can pledge their support for community projects, and hear about what's going on in their town.
Throughout the course of the evening, four local projects will pitch their ideas to guests, who will have paid £10 for the evening.
Guests will then vote for their favourite idea. Food will be shared, entertainment provided and votes will be counted. At the end of the evening, the cause with the most votes will get to take home all of the money taken on the door.
They will then be invited back during the next Beverley Soup to talk about what they did with the funding.
Join Beverley Soup on 9th June at St Mary's Church as they empower residents and share the benefits of Soup. Tickets are £10, visit the Beverley Soup Facebook page for more information.
