Fri 1st March 2019A Beverley skincare consultant and facial massage therapist has been invited to address delegates at a DermoCosmetics forum that is being hosted by the oldest pharmaceutical and chemical company in the world next month.
Dr Katerina Steventon, founder of the independent skincare consultancy, FaceWorkshops, is the only UK based speaker to address delegates at the two day Merck DermoCosmetics Forum that takes place at Merck's global headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany on 19th and 20th March.
The 4th biennial Forum brings together top scientists from around the world to discuss currents trends and the future of dermocosmetics. Dr Steventon will address the audience of researchers and marketers about The Science of Massage for Different Skin Types and will be sharing the stage with a number of high profile speakers, including representatives from Merck and the universities of Salzburg, Vienna and Bologna, Italy.
Dr. Katerina Steventon was invited to address the meeting after organiser/representatives from Merck heard her talk previously and is looking forward to the event: "I am delighted to take part in this international industry-led forum. The conference brings together new research and clinical practice to foster innovation and advance the area of skin health and topical skincare across diverse portfolio of personal care and pharmaceutical industries.
"The sensory properties of skincare products enhance the perceived wellbeing that results from their use. When developing new products, it is therefore important to understand how an individual's skin type, age and ethnicity can affect their experience of being massaged and how different touch techniques can impact skin biology. Cultures around the world approach touch differently, and skincare techniques therefore need to respect the integrity of the skin barrier in each case in order to provide overall positive benefits for the human body, strengthen the connection between the skin and the brain, and increase wellbeing."
Dr. Steventon has worked for prestigious brands including Shiseido, La Prairie, Unilever and Smith & Nephew Wound Management. Today, she consults for academia, the skincare industry and retailers and writes for trade journals in addition to running her own private practice that specialises in natural, touch-based therapies for acne and skin ageing.
