200 choral singers from around Yorkshire will unite in Beverley Minster on October 19th, to
perform one of the UK’s favourite new choral works.
Composer Matthew Coleridge will conduct a performance of his own choral work Requiem,
which listeners of Classic FM voted into the top 50 of their Hall of Fame earlier this year.
He’ll be joined for the performance by string players from Hull Philharmonic Orchestra, local
baritone soloist Charlie Trueman, and rising cello star Jayden Lamcellari.
Mr Coleridge’s choral music has become hugely popular with Yorkshire choirs in recent
years, and this concert follows on from successful recent performances in Wakefield and
Bradford Cathedrals and Selby Abbey.
The self-taught composer is relishing another trip to conduct his music in Yorkshire:
“It’s always a pleasure to return to one of Yorkshire’s great churches, and the incomparable
atmosphere and acoustic in Beverley Minster will make this performance particularly special.
There’s been a real appetite for my music in Yorkshire lately, with several choral societies
putting on performances, and I’m thrilled that so many of those singers will be uniting for this
concert. It’s also going to be wonderful working with the string players from Hull Philharmonic
Orchestra, who will add extra power and beauty to my music.”
Audience tickets (£5-£10) for the evening performance (7:00pm - 8:15pm) are available at
