BEVERLEY BLOOMS AS 'YORKSHIRE IN BLOOM' JUDGES VISIT TOWN
Mon 18th July 2016Judges from the Yorkshire in Bloom competition descended on Beverley this week to judge the town’s floral displays.
The impressive displays were carefully grown and planned out by local group Beverley in Bloom. You might have noticed them dotted around the town.
The judges began their journey at Beverley Racecourse, where they boarded the Beverley Community Lift Minibus (or Hyacinth for short). They then travelled around the racecourse and into the town, where they stopped at Molescroft School to independently judge.
The next stop was the Chandler Centre, where the judges met representatives from the FIND 2 charity. Hyacinth then took the visitors through the ancient North Bar, past the Georgian Quarter and into Hengate Memorial Garden where they arrived at around 1pm.
The YIB judges looked around the garden, being shown around by Helen Watson, the town clerk from Beverley Council.
Mrs Watson said: "It was good to welcome the Yorkshire in Bloom judges to Beverley. They certainly had an action packed, interesting day and met many local people who help us with the Bloom campaign. We would like to thank everyone involved who helped to make Beverley shine."
After some time spent in Hengate Garden, the judges were driven around Beverley, stopping off at beautiful locations including Beverley Minster, Flemingate and the Queensgate Allotments.
The judges ended their journey at Beckside, where they were greeted by the Mayoress, the Chairman of Beverley in Bloom and its members.
