This Sunday will see Beverley Armed Forces Day attract huge crowds to the town centre.

From 11am family entertainment will be on offer in aid of the SSAFA charity, which provides practical support and assistance to veterans and their families.

Entertainment will include a freedom parade and open air service, plus a re-enactment by the 5/60th Royal American Rifles, showcasing the Napoleonic era to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Waterloo.

Musical entertainment will be provided by the Beverley Male Voice Choir, the Church Lads and Church Girls Brigade Band, Beverley and District Pipe Band and Humberside Police Concert Band.

The main feature of the day will take place at 2.20pm, when a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will take place in the skies.

The event is able to go ahead due to the support of the local community, in part by pupils at St Nicholas Primary School who took part in a non-uniform day, raising £151 to contribute towards the costs.
