BBC Radio Humberside announces local hero finalists in the Make a Difference Awards 2024
Sat 13th July 202432 local heroes across East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire who have been making a difference in their communities have been shortlisted as finalists in a community award scheme run by BBC Radio Humberside.
Nominations by the public took place earlier this year, and winners will be announced at a special Make a Difference Awards ceremony in September.
This year’s event is set to take place in the gothic grandeur of Beverley Minster.
‘Make A Difference’ was first set up at the start of the first pandemic lockdown and is a virtual notice board for those offering help and those needing support. To date more than 14 million people have interacted across all 39 local BBC radio stations.
Chris Burns, Head of Audio and Digital for BBC England said: “A huge thank you to everyone who nominated someone, we have some amazing stories and are looking forward to celebrating our local heroes in September.”
Finalist’s individual stories will be showcased every day throughout the summer on radio, online and social media, from Monday, 15th July.
