Ashberry Homes In On Young Artists With Keldmarsh Primary School Donation
The Yorkshire division of national homebuilder, Ashberry Homes literally put Easter in the picture at Keldmarsh Primary School by donating art equipment, which was used by pupils in a big Easter art competition.

All the pupils at the Woodmansey Mile school were asked to design an Easter Fun World and decide its location in Beverley – and the quality and imagination of the art created was astounding; with a mixture of pictures and models, many of which were located in Westwood and featured the iconic Black Mill as their focal point.

A judging panel featuring Mrs Adamson and Miss Cartwright from Keldmarsh Primary School and Ashberry Homes’ sales advisor, Cathy Roebuck and assistant site manager, Dennis Oates pored over all the entries before selecting a winner from every year group. The overall winner was selected from this group – with the accolade going to Isaac B from Year 1, whose entry was chosen because of the way it captured the competition’s brief.

Cathy, who works on Ashberry Homes’ neighbouring Pilgrim’s Way development, said: “The idea of the competition was to encourage the children to think creatively about design in a real-world setting, but do it in a fun and artistic way. The entries were absolutely fantastic and we had a great time looking at them all.”

“Isaac’s winning artwork was so bright, cheerful and really did capture Easter perfectly.”

Isaac’s artwork will now go on display at Ashberry Homes’ sales office at Pilgrim’s Way over the Easter holidays.

Being built in a picturesque location off Woodmansey Mile, and just a short walk from Beverley town centre and the Minster, Pilgrims’ Way will comprise 114 two, three and four-bedroom homes once complete. To date, over 75 per cent of these homes have sold and prices for those currently available range from £279,995 for a three-bedroom semi-detached Orchid to £484,995 for a four-bed detached family home.

“When you look at Pilgrim’s Way and its mix of house styles and sizes, it’s clearly been designed to appeal to as wide a spread of house buyers as possible,” said Keldmarsh teacher and art lead, Miss Caldwell. “And that’s what we were aiming for with the competition – the creation of an Easter Fun World that would appeal to everyone.”

“All the children who entered put so much time and effort in and made Keldmarsh Primary School proud – and who knows, maybe we have a future house designer or three in our midst!”
