ArtWaves Festival Open Call to New and Emerging Artists
Fri 29th November 2019ArtWaves Festival has announced the return of the mentored commission strand, Submerge as part of the 2020 festival programme taking place at Bridlington Spa in May 2020.
Submerge is aimed at young, new and emerging artists looking to create and display artwork on a public platform.
The festival is looking for installation based pieces that are either static or interactive for members of the public to explore and interact with.
The strand works by commissioning chosen artists following a selection process and working with them to support the delivery of the piece at the event, exposure through marketing and career progression through tailored creative professional development sessions.
Submerge allows artists to go through all the elements of concept to creation with the support of the event management, production team and further contractors where required to ensure the piece is showcasing the best the artist has to offer.
ArtWaves Festival Director, Lauren Frost said, “The Submerge strand is a firm festival fixture as an opportunity to support artists and showcase something a little different. Previously we’ve seen sculptures, digital artworks, immersive installations and short films created and brought to the festival; we can’t wait to see what the call out brings to the table this time.”
ArtWaves is looking to commission four pieces for the 2020 event for a commission fee of £500 - £1000 per artwork. These will be displayed at Bridlington Spa as part of the main festival on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 May 2020.
