Are you ready for this year's Beverley Festival of Christmas?
Fri 3rd November 2017The historic market town of Beverley will be the place to celebrate the festive season as it prepares to host its annual Festival of Christmas on Sunday, 10 December.
Each year, on the second Sunday in December, the centre of the town is transformed into a magical wonderland for Christmas shoppers with over 120 stalls selling all manner of Christmas gifts and locally produced food and drink.
The festival takes place from 10am-4pm and will open with the Christmas Parade, which sets off from Wednesday Market to Saturday Market and will be led by Santa with his sleigh and reindeer.
There will be four traditional Victorian Christmas Markets nestled within Saturday Market, Wednesday Market, North Bar Within and Flemingate Shopping Centre.
As well as stalls selling festive stocking fillers there will be a range of family entertainment including live music, dancing, carols and more.
There will also be a lot of fun things for the kids to do, including face painting, traditional Victorian fairground rides, Santa's grotto and pantomime performances. There's even something extra for the grownups, with the Nordic tipi bar in Flemingate Shopping Centre.
Councillor Richard Burton, cabinet portfolio holder for leisure, tourism and culture at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “The Beverley Festival of Christmas is one of the East Riding’s most popular events and attracted around 60,000 visitors in 2016.
“The Beverley Festival of Christmas has plenty to offer outside of the event too. The town has some impressive architecture, such as Beverley Minster and St Mary’s Church, and a wealth of restaurants and independent shops which are perfect for those last minute presents.”
