Allyson inspires all the way
Wed 4th October 2023Beverley parkrun continues to deliver, September's end of month Parkrun was Special, people joined in to support Allyson, wearing Blue in recognition of 5k Your Way Move Against Cancer Group.
On Saturday 30th September whilst wearing BLUE for "5k Your Way Move Against Cancer group" and to celebrate their first anniversary at Beverley Westwood parkrun inspirational lady, Allyson Kent, completed her 50th parkrun.
Allyson mentioned “5k Your Way is a charity dedicated to supporting cancer patients and survivors on their journey to better health. Walking, jogging or running a 5k distance, encouraging physical activity as a means to improve mental and physical well-being during and after cancer treatment".
Allyson Kent was diagnosed with cancer in May 2020. since that day has decided to do as much as possible to help people whilst maintaining a healthy positive outlook herself.
Allyson took on the challenge of walking 1000 miles in 2021 and ended up walking the distance of 55 marathons in 52 weeks.
Allyson discovered 5k Your Way Move Against Cancer https://5kyourway.org/ and introduced 5k Your Way to the organisers at Beverley Westwood parkrun, collectively encourage people to get involved.
Initially Allyson walked at the parkrun in Beverley and now with her strength improving aims to jog / run the difficult Beverley Westwood parkrun in the near future.
Allyson went on to say "5k Your Way is a community support group who meet on the last Saturday in the month, encouraging people with a diagnosis, their family and friends and those working in cancer care to come along and do 5k Your Way".
