Aladdin now booking at Parkway Theatre
Wed 9th November 2016Aladdin - Beverley’s professional pantomime at Parkway Theatre is now booking! Tickets are selling fast, so don't miss out!
Tony Peers is a musical impresario who provides light entertainment productions to theatres, hotels and resorts across the UK. He is bringing all the fun of the marvellous and wonderful British institution of pantomime to Beverley’s marvellous and wonderful Parkway Theatre from December 16th to January 1st.
Never been to a pantomime? Well, here’s a short resume of what to expect! Traditionally, pantomimes take place around Christmas and are almost always based on well-loved children’s stories. There is always audience participation in the form of booing the baddie, cheering the goodie and arguing with the Dame (who is always a widow and always a man!). The audience always warn The Principal Boy (who is played by a girl) that the baddie is behind him by shouting ‘He’s behind you!’ which the Principal Boy always pretends he hasn’t heard so that when he turns around, the villain has gone! There’s slapstick, colourful costumes, songs and usually a pantomime horse which is played by 2 people, one at the front with the head and one at the back with the rump. There is always a song which the audience join in with, too, with audience members invited up onto the stage to take part. If it’s your birthday and you let the cast know, you will, no doubt, get persuaded to go up onto the stage to have ‘Happy Birthday’ sung to you!
The Principal Boy always falls in love with the Principal Girl (played by a girl) who is the Dame’s daughter, defeats the baddie and everyone lives happily ever after.
Parkway Theatre’s ‘Aladdin’ promises a magic carpet ride of a pantomime! Starring Joe Maw from CBBC’s ‘The Dumping Ground’ and Colin Roberts as Widow Twankey with local dancers from The Fleur Elizabeth Academy of Dance. The timings of shows mean that everyone will be able to go along. Shows are timed to start at 11am, 1.30pm, 3.30pm and 6pm on different days so they will never finish too late in the day.
Just Beverley thinks this is a great idea!
