Active Coast back again for the Easter holidays
Mon 12th March 2018Active Coast is back with a full programme of activities and events for Easter, 2018!
The council’s Active Coast programme last year provided over 100 organised events and activities, and involved over 14,000 participants in activities designed to Explore, Join In and Enjoy the iconic East Yorkshire coastline.
For 2018, two weeks of events and activities are planned over Easter, starting on Saturday, 24 March. Here are the details of Week One :
BRIDLINGTON AREA :
Saturday 24th : Sewerby parkrun : 9am : Sewerby Hall and Gardens : free
Sunday 25th : Go Spike Beach Volleyball Season Launch : 1-4pm : South Beach (below Foreshores office): free
Monday 26th : Coastal Explorers – Hike and Firelighting : 10am -1 pm : Danes Dyke : ages five plus, with adult : Booking required via sportplayarts@eastriding.gov.uk or 01482 395320 : free
Monday 26th: Bridlington Indoor Volleyball Club : East Riding Leisure Bridlington : 6.30-7.30pm : £2.20 : 18 plus
Tuesday 27th: All Ride (Open Day) : 11am-3pm : North Promenade : ages five plus : free : adapted cycling scheme for people with various disabilities
Tuesday 27th : Walking for Health : 10.30-11.30am : Sewerby Hall and Gardens : free
Tuesday 27th : Bushcraft and Wildlife Warrior : 12noon-3pm : Sewerby Hall and Gardens : admission charges apply
Wednesday 28th : Family Beach Bootcamp : 1-3pm : South Beach : free
Thursday 29th : Mile Marker Health Walk : 10-11am : East Riding Leisure Bridlington : free
Thursday 29th : Beach Sports Session : Cricket and Beach Tennis : 1-3pm : South Cliff Beach (below Park and Ride) : 6-16 years : free
Saturday 31 March : Sewerby parkrun : 9am : Sewerby Hall and Gardens : free.
Hornsea and Withernsea :
Monday 26th : Go Spike Volleyball and Multi Sports : 1-3pm : Hornsea Grainger’s Field : 6-16 years : free
Tuesday 27th : Go Spike Volleyball and Multi Sports : 1-3pm : Withernsea Valley Gardens : 6-16 years : free
Wednesday 28th : Walking for Health : 9.30-10.30am : East Riding Leisure Withernsea : free
Wednesday 28th : Walking for Health : 11am-12 noon : East Riding Leisure Hornsea : free
Friday 30th : Good Friday : Stone Art Family Workshop with Responsible Fishing UK : 10am – 4pm : Hornsea beach (below Trans Pennine monument) : free.
Councillor Richard Burton, portfolio holder for leisure, tourism, and culture, said : “I am very excited and pleased that we are starting our Active Coast programme again this year with a great selection of events and activities along our stunning coastline. I hope that lots of people of all ages and abilities will want to come along and join in, make the most of the coast, and get fit and healthy at the same time.”
The second week of the Easter holidays will see more exciting events, including Have A Field Day events and the Spring Family Fun Day at Sewerby Hall and Gardens.
