Give Peat a Chance!

Peatlands

Globally, peatlands are the largest store of carbon on land - when healthy, they lock away more than twice the carbon in all the world's forests combined.
The risk of flooding increases when our peatlands are degraded, as they no longer slow the flow of water running off the hills
They're home to iconic wildlife; when our peatlands thrive, so too does our wildlife - the ultimate win/win
They're intrinsically Yorkshire. No other landscapes can rival our peatlands for sheer 'Yorkshireness' - they're part of our heritage and our hearts.Tragically, our peatlands are a brown and broken wasteland. If we don't act now, we will lose them forever.

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is working to ensure our peatlands survive with a team of volunteers who are out in all weathers. Could you be a YWT volunteer or help fund their work to give peat a chance?
