Clogau - storytelling through beautiful jewellery

Clogau 11 Jpg

Clogau jewellery features Welsh gold from the Clogau St David’s gold mine as worn by some members of our Royal Family for over 100 years, including the coronation regalia of Prince Edward when he was invested as Prince of Wales in 1911 and the wedding rings of the late Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother; The Queen; Prince Charles and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

Over 150 years ago, gold was discovered in the mountains of Snowdonia. Mining ceased 50 years ago when seams of gold were becoming increasingly difficult to locate. But in 1989, William Roberts discovered the abandoned mine and gambled on the idea there would still be gold buried within it. There was and still is!

To make the best use of this precious metal, William, Chairman of Clogau, used the gold to create jewellery of the highest quality, beauty and originality, celebrating the magnificent landscapes, myths and legends, flora and fauna of Wales. As we move into a fresh New Year, Clogau revisits nature in its rawest form, recognizing how colour affects our everyday lives and leads us forward. Clogau’s pieces reflect nature at its best within its design, capturing the hearts and imaginations of jewellery lovers far and wide. As every piece contains rare Welsh gold, it becomes an heirloom with both personal and cultural meaning and a permanent tie to Wales. Fortunately for those of us who aren’t Welsh or who don’t have Welsh ancestry, Clogau enables us to own something very British and valuable which can be passed down the generations.

With the chill of winter and the prospect of beautiful spring ahead a piece of Clogau jewllery would be a great way to experience nature at its best. Clogau celebrates the jewels of nature, all of which contain rare Welsh gold - the Gold of Royalty for over 100 years - to be treasured for a lifetime. Clogau’s heritage defines the company’s being and provides the cornerstone for its future - a future that will hopefully be as successful as their story has been to date.
