10 mile pony trek in memory of Mollie
Tue 14th July 2020Furry Friends of Beverley joined in with a 10 mile pony trek in memory of Mollie Stansfield, a year on from her tragic death.
Mollie, 22, had suffered from mental health for a long time and tragically took her own life on July 10th 2019. The 10 mile trek was organised to raise money for Mysterious Minds, a mental health charity who have supported Mollie's family during this difficult time.
The trek to raise money and awareness for mental health was organised by Emma Crawther who Manages Furry Friends, an animal therapy, rehoming and rescue centre, and the Time Gallery Aesthetic clinic.
The group started off at Dunswell and walked through Beverley town centre before doing a two minute silence outside of the Time Gallery.
Many people joined in with the walk along with 3 miniature therapy ponies named Buttercup, Daisy and Alice. Unfortunately the rain did not hold off for long, and everyone completed 7.5 of the miles in torrential rain.
In total, we achieved target goal of £1000.
The event was a huge success and Furry Friends are now looking at supporting other causes on a monthly basis to raise money doing a sponsored 5 mile trek with the ponies. This will be free of charge so if anyone is interested please get in touch with Furry Friends on their facebook page - Furry Friends Children's Parties and Events.
