£1,000 boost for Beverley Community Lift
Wed 30th November 2016Beverley's Vodafone store recently made a £1,000 donation to Beverley Community Lift through their Community Connection Award scheme. Kimberley Towers, Vodafone Store Manager in Beverley said: “Beverley Community Lift make a huge difference to so many people’s lives in the area – they help the elderly so they don’t feel alone and isolated, and we’re so glad that we could be a part of that.”
The award was used to enable some of the elderly members to enjoy Sunday lunch and a trip to the theatre.
Jan Stainforth, CEO of Beverley Community Lift entered the charity for the award and said “Beverley Community Lift was delighted to receive the Vodafone Community Connection Award. It allowed us to make a difference to the lives of elderly, disabled and isolated people who were unable to get out and enjoy themselves. Social interaction is so important in keeping people connected with their community – it allows them to live as independently as possible, for as long as possible. Thank you for helping us to help them.”
Vodafone’s Community Connection Awards, launched in 2014, have already made a difference to more than 100 local communities across the UK. Selected by local Vodafone staff and aimed at supporting local causes, the awards have been used to help support everything from new equipment for soup kitchens and day centres for the elderly to helping people with disabilities to take part in sporting activities.
