An all-female team of financial advisers has been named Small Business of the Year at the Goole and Howdenshire Business Excellence Awards.
Yorkshire Financial Planning was set up four years ago by Chartered Financial Advisers Caroline Allen and Joanne Baker with the aim of providing a boutique financial advice service that feels different to other practices. With only 16% of financial advisers in the UK being women, they said they are proud to fly the flag in a male-dominated industry.
Caroline Allen, Co-owner and Director, said:
“We feel really honoured to have won this award and to see our hard work recognised as well as our commitment to our local community. Jo and I met in 2007 when we trained to be Financial Advisers together. We always had a clear path in mind in terms of the kind of business we wanted to have. Our job is to help clear away the fog that often makes the path to financial freedom so difficult to navigate. We now have over 250 clients and we are excited to continue helping them and others secure their financial futures.”
They are particularly passionate about creating and maintaining the financial wellbeing of their clients. They also run popular financial education sessions with businesses to help employees with their personal finances, including pensions and retirement planning. This is just one of the reasons they stood out to judges, who said they are bucking many trends within the financial industry.
Joanne Baker, Co-owner and Director, continued:
“We really weren’t expecting to win so when our names were called, we were absolutely delighted. Winning this award means so much to us. We would like to thank all of our wonderful clients without whom none of this would be possible. It’s their lives, their hard work, their hopes and their dreams. They trust us to look after their future. We're now eager to build on this success and continue making a meaningful difference.”
