Yorkshire Day Celebrations Return To Sewerby Hall And Gardens This Weekend

Sewerby Hall and Gardens is set to host Yorkshire Day celebrations once more this weekend.

Taking place on Saturday, 1 August, 11am to 4pm, visitors will be able to explore the beautiful grounds of Sewerby Hall and Gardens whilst enjoying a range of entertainment, celebrating Yorkshire culture and heritage.

The Yorkshire Declaration will be read by the Vice Chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Councillor Barbara Jeffreys at 11.51am.

Some of the other highlights will include:

Morris Dancing will be taking place in front of the Sewerby House from 11am.

Join Rusticus Adventures: Curious Creatures! and step into a world of imagination, exploring the woods with story tellers. Performances will take place at 10.45am, 12.30pm and 2pm.

Visitors will be able to take part in Yorkshire themed games including 'Flat Cap Flinging' and 'Yorkshire Pudding and Spoon Racing' located by the Orangery from 11am to 3pm. Please be aware, allergens may be present in the Yorkshire Puddings.

Visit the Edwardian Kitchen and discover some traditional Yorkshire recipes found in the East Riding Archives and make your own Yorkshire flag to take away, 11am to 3.30pm.

Councillor Barbara Jeffreys, Vice Chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: ‘’I am very much looking forward to attending Yorkshire Day at Sewerby Hall and Gardens and reading the Yorkshire Declaration to those in attendance.

‘’The day is filled with family-friendly activities which celebrate the very best of Yorkshire, bringing people to together to celebrate in our unique shared culture and heritage. I look forward to seeing all who come along!’’

The Yorkshire Day celebrations are part of the Summer of Fun at Sewerby Hall and Gardens. The Summer of Fun takes place throughout the summer holidays with regular activities including Rusticus, magic shows and face painting, ICONIC BRICKS and zoo activities.
