Triple World Title for Unity Allstar Blacks and Matty
Tue 30th April 2024The ESPN Wide World of Sports Arena in Orlando, Florida held the 2024 Cheerleading Worlds Championships.
The Cheerleading Worlds began in 2004 and has grown from two divisions to involve hundreds of teams in more than 30 divisions from all over the globe.
Matthew Minshall, having won Back to back World titles in 2023 with Unity Allstars Black was looking for Back to back to back titles. Quite an achievement if they could hold their nerve.
Matthew works in London, trains in South London with Unity Allstars, who encourage all teams to constantly strive for continued excellence no matter the skill level at which they are competing at.
Unity have a great reputation for encouraging people in the sport. Since early in 2021 Matthew has trained with the Unity team and in 2022 won the National Championships before going off to Florida where he won the World Championships. in 2023 won back to back championships and this year went out again as British champions in the hope of making it three "Back to back to back".
This year they knew the competition was tough, training increased, skill difficulty increased, and the level went up.

The top five teams included teams from Chile, Canada and Australia, in close contention and the Spanish team leading the way. The finals were going to be tense.
In the final round, the Canadian and Australian Teams pushed them hard, the Australian team delivering a flawless performance which put the pressure on Unity All Star Blacks. They needed a zero deduction performance themselves.
On Monday 29th April at 9.45pm Eastern Time in the USA, Unity Allstar Blacks were announced as L7 International Open Coed NT. World Champions 2024, their highly technical performance ensured they became - "back to back to back winners". just pipping Australia for the title.
Congratulations go out to everyone involved, it's great that a young man from Beverley is there leading the way. Matthew commented "It's madness to think what we have achieved, doing it twice was great, to do it a third time, unbelievable".
