Today sees the much-anticipated return of the Tour of Britain, the UK’s leading cycle race
Sun 3rd September 2023The Tour of Britain starts in Greater Manchester, "The Grand Départ", which will start eight days of racing, covering in excess of 1,200 kilometres around the country.
It is hoped the race will attract a roadside crowd of over one million spectators, and contribute over £20m of net economic benefit. with the weather forecast to be sunny all week, this could attract even bigger crowds.
Two former champions – Wout van Aert (Jumbo – Visma) and Gonzalo Serrano (Movistar Team) will be competing for the Tour of Britain title.
Tom Pidcock, from Leeds the British Olympic and world champion will lead a strong INEOS Grenadiers team which features Tour de France stage winner Carlos Rodriguez.
Following the start from Greater Manchester, The Tour of Britain 2023 will visit North Wales, East Yorkshire, (Stage 3 Finishing in Beverley), Nottinghamshire, Suffolk, Essex, Gloucestershire, and South Wales.
All Eight Stages will be shown LIVE and in full on ITV4 with international coverage in 150 plus countries thanks to Eurosport and GCN+.
