The John Godber Company is getting great reviews at The East Riding Theatre with the brand-new comedy, "This Is The Life", giving Beverley and East Yorkshire audiences the very first opportunity to see the show before it heads off on a national tour in 2027.
The play follows backstage stalwarts Dave and Sapphire, two loyal workers at the crumbling Old Forge Theatre.
Happy to stay in the shadows, they suddenly find themselves centre stage when they discover their beloved venue is under threat.
Faced with dwindling audiences, chaos behind the scenes and the prospect of redevelopment, they decide to create a show of their own in a bid to save the theatre they love.
Full of humour, the production draws on the stories, characters and theatrical mishaps Godber has witnessed throughout his incredible career.
Audiences can expect comic observations and a celebration of the resilience of live performance.
This Is The Life will be one of the highlights of the Beverley summer.
