"There has been a Lions Club in Beverley since the 1960s, during which time the members of the club have devoted thousands of hours to the service of the town. The events they have organised include the fireworks on Westwood, Father Christmas and his sleigh at Christmas, fundraising bucket collections for various causes and more recently the Christmas tree on the Market Cross last year.
They also raise money to alleviate natural and man-made disasters, such as providing tents during the aftermath of the Turkish earthquake and also sending stoves to the people of Ukraine. There is an upcoming bucket collection for Myanmar.
The Beverley Lions Club is sadly suffering a recruitment crisis. They desperately need more members to continue to serve Beverley and the wider world. The Club meets once a month (next meeting: 6:00p.m. on 5th May 2025 at the Tiger Inn on Lairgate). Intrested? Go along, they will even buy you a drink! Given that the Beverley Lions have served Beverley for so many years, it would be such a shame if it was forced to close.
