East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s private sector housing enforcement team will host, alongside Hull City Council, a free seminar in Beverley for local landlords and agents, on Wednesday 8 October, on the impact of the Renters Rights Bill.

The event will feature Paul Shamplina, founder of Landlord Action and star of Channel 5 Hit TV series ‘Nightmare Tenants, Slum Landlords.’

Shamplina has been educating landlords and Letting Agents for over 30 years and will update on the impact of the upcoming Renters Rights Act, compliance, investment, and understanding the complexity of property management.

Additional speakers will cover enforcement expectations, damp and mould investigations, selecting competent contractors, eco4, and preparing for the new legislation. Agents and landlords will be also invited to sign up to the preventing damp and mould local initiative.

Councillor Lynn Healing, East Riding of Yorkshire Council cabinet member for public protection said “It is essential that landlords exercise responsible property management, and we’re keen to support them to adapt to changing legislation. I encourage interested landlords to apply for tickets and attend this event next month.”

There are places left in the afternoon session at the Beverley Leisure Centre (1.15pm -3.30pm) on a first come first serve basis.

Interested participants should email private.sector.housing@eastriding.gov.uk with the name of their business and the position of the representative(s) attending. There are a maximum of two places available per organisation.
