Supporting Yorkshire-made entertainment
Wed 22nd April 2020There is some fabulous entertainment on offer from many of the national theatres, but if you're looking to support Yorkshire artists and companies, the East Riding Theatre has put together some excellent Yorkshire-made recommendations for you to explore.
If you missed it a few weeks ago, catch up on 'Epiphany' a brilliant radio play written by Richard Avery, starring ERT favourites Richard Avery and Neil King. Meet Arthur and Wyn, two fire watchers on a shift together during the Second World War, in London. They share their stories and reveal their own personal epiphanies. Watch on youtube here.
Now available to watch online, Breach Theatre's 'It's True, It's True, It's True' is a gripping adaptation of court testimony from painter Artemisia Gentileschi. We were delighted to host the production at ERT last year and you can now watch this hit show online. Available until 30th April.
Paragon Dreams
Following on from the critically acclaimed The Ballad of Paragon Station, creator and homegrown artist Hester Ullyart returned to the stage with this gritty solo piece. You're invited to fall down the rabbit hole in this kaleidoscope 60 minute play, where nothing is quite as you had originally imagined. Dream big, for things are not always what they seem... watch online here. Available until 8th May.
Middle Child
From local company, Middle Child comes Us Against Whatever an electrifying cabaret about the places we keep in our hearts.
From Masuria in Poland and Greenwood Ave in HU6, to a karaoke bar on the night of the EU referendum, via Deano's volley and a decade of austerity, Us Against Whatever asks what it means to make Hull our home, together.
Written by Maureen Lennon in collaboration with Nastazja Somers, with music by James Frewer and lyrics by Paul Smith. Stream it now until midnight on Monday 27 April.
Don't forget...
Bringing live music from her living room to yours! Eleanor Grace will be LIVE on the East Riding Theatre Facebook page on Saturday 25th April at 7pm.
On Facebook this Sunday 26th April, the ERT's artistic director Adrian Rawlins will be reading his favourite breakfast inspired poem.
