Statement by Graham Stuart MP and Sir Greg Knight MP following the urgently convened meeting today with East Riding of Yorkshire CCG
Fri 24th November 2017Following the announcement yesterday that the Independent Reconfiguration Panel has decided not to undertake a full-scale review into East Riding of Yorkshire CCG’s urgent care and community care services proposals, local Members of Parliament, Graham Stuart and Sir Greg Knight, met today with Jane Hawkard, Chief Executive of the ERYCCG.
Graham Stuart, MP for Beverley & Holderness said:
“At the meeting with the Chief Executive of the CCG, Sir Greg Knight and I made it clear in the strongest possible terms that local people want the CCG to think again. We pointed out that it is not just that their public engagement was sub-standard, but that they failed to integrate primary care with urgent care. We told the Chief Executive that the CCG needs to actively come forward with proposals which do that and win the support of local people. Ms Hawkard said the CCG will think and reflect on the report and the appropriate way to proceed going forward. Sir Greg Knight and I hope that will involve a fundamental reconsideration.”
Sir Greg Knight, MP for Yorkshire East, commented:
“Like Graham I am pleased that the CCG are going to reflect on their position. This is encouraging and a sign that they appreciate they have to do more to see that their plans not only provide adequate healthcare locally but also have greater public support.”
