Sledmere recognised as East Yorkshires most 'Remarkable Visitor Attraction'
Mon 18th May 2020Sledmere fought off some fierce competition last week at the ‘Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism’ (REYTA) awards organised by Visit Hull and East Yorkshire (VHEY), to win the title of the most ‘Remarkable Visitor Attraction’ 2020.
Lauren Fenwick, Sledmeres PR and Marketing coordinator has said ‘We were told in January that we had been shortlisted in our category and were thrilled just to be recognised as one of the leading visitor attractions alongside some other strong entries for this title. We know what an amazing range of visitor experiences East Yorkshire has to offer and are extremely proud to have been officially named as 2020’s the most remarkable. We have carefully developed the range of activities we are able to offer at Sledmere over the last few years and now pride ourselves in being able to offer something for all the family to enjoy’.
Sledmere House and Garden originally opened to the public on an occasional basis and was very much centred on the opening of the mansion house and the immediate grounds. Over the years since, they have made a positive decision to develop an inspiring country house garden, create a nationally recognised rare breed farm park and enhance all of the visitor facilities as well as staging a yearlong calendar of special events.
The project being undertaken at present is a substantial refurbishment of their Coach House Café and Farm Shop alongside the creation of a new suit of function rooms. This is just the next stage in continuing to make a visit to Sledmere even more special.
Sir Tatton the owner of the Estate says ‘We’re very pleased to have received the ‘Remarkable Visitor Attraction’ award and feel it is much deserved by all the staff for their tremendous hard work in looking after our visitors. We look forward to growing and sharing our achievements’
