Beverley’s first 24-hour fitness club opens at Flemingate this week promising to combine socialising with getting in shape.

Hundreds of people have signed up to join Anytime Fitness, which opens on Friday, June 2, after an investment of more than £500,000 in fit-out and top-of-the-range gym equipment.

The franchise fitness club is offering free health assessments and personalised training plans for everyone who signs up. Members will also benefit from money-saving discounts with other businesses based at Flemingate, such as 20% off meals at Gourmet Burger Kitchen and 10% off all orders at Starbucks.

Neel Sodha, Anytime Fitness Flemingate franchise owner, said: “We’re really looking forward to opening our doors and welcoming members to our new fitness club.

“We’ve focused on being much more than just a gym, so there will be a real sense of community at the club. Our highly-trained staff will go out of their way to get to know the members and ensure they get the most out of their membership.

“Our equipment and facilities are all of a very high specification and our team will be proactive in supporting our members to keep to the individual fitness plans we will devise for each customer.

“Our mission is to maintain our members’ motivation to achieve their fitness goals.”

The state-of-the-art equipment includes cardio machines by leading fitness equipment brand Life Fitness, which members can wirelessly connect to and catch up on Netflix or Facebook at the same time as keeping track of their workout history and collecting fitness data.

Included in over 300 pieces of gym apparatus are strength equipment; boxing facilities; squat rack; 1000kg of weight plates; synergy rack; battle ropes; slam bags; resistance equipment and much more.

Sasha Young, General Manager of Anytime Fitness at Flemingate, said: “We’re really excited to be opening at Flemingate and helping our members reach their fitness and lifestyle targets.

“All our staff are qualified personal trainers and we’ll have over 30 instructor-led fitness classes a week. Our machines also feature virtual classes so people can train to workout videos when an instructor isn’t present.

“We want to become a community-focused gym. We’ll contact members if they haven’t been in for a while, just in case they need help to get back on track with their fitness goals.

“We’re a local franchise with local staff and we aim to become a place where members can socialise together and feel at home.”

Graham Tait, Flemingate Centre Manager, said: “Anytime Fitness is a great addition to Flemingate and will add footfall to the centre, which will be great for the retail and leisure outlets here.

“It’s also a great idea that the club plans to use our outdoor green space for fitness classes and group activities in spring and summer. It will bring something very different to the Flemingate mix.”

The 24-hour Anytime Fitness club occupies a first-floor unit with ground-floor entrance next to artisan sandwich shop Deli No.1, at the heart of the Flemingate centre.

Trained staff are on site from 6am to 10pm during the week, and from 8am to 8pm at the weekend.
