An award-winning science entertainment company is bringing fun, interactive science workshops to Beverley’s Flemingate centre next month.

The workshops during the half-term school holiday aim to inspire children to learn about science and engineering using exciting hands-on experimentation in a safe and controlled environment.

The company behind the workshops is Yorkshire and Humber-based Lab Rascals. With a team of fully-qualified scientists, Lab Rascals have wowed thousands of children with the wonders of science and engineering since launching in 2012.

Hosting hundreds of workshops, science clubs and children’s parties every year, Lab Rascals show children that learning about science is enjoyable and fun and not just about reading from textbooks.

Katie Norman, founder of Lab Rascals, said: “Our Lab Rascals Workshops demonstrate to children that learning about science, technology, engineering and maths can be really interesting and a lot of fun.

“The workshops are a great mix of hands-on science experimentation and fun learning techniques, such as learning how to make slime - that’s a firm favourite!

“We haven’t held any workshops in Beverley for a while so it’s great to be back in the area. Flemingate is perfect for our workshops and we’ve got some really fun activities lined up for Monday, February 12th.”

Jo Bridgeman, Events Organiser at Flemingate, said: “We’re thrilled Lab Rascals are joining us at Flemingate for the first day of the half-term break.

“The workshops are entertaining and educational and introduce children to the wonders of science in a fun and hands-on way.”

The workshops will include making slime and jelly worms to demonstrate how polymers are made and how crosslinking polymers can change materials.

The Lab Rascal workshops are on Monday, February 12, from 10am-11am and 11.30am-12.30pm, in a unit between Outfit and Baytree Interiors. An afternoon workshop may be added, depending on demand.

Workshops are for 5-14 year olds (children under 7 require parental supervision). Classes will cost £6 per child. Parking in the 500-space car park is £1 for three hours.

The Lab Rascals workshops and parties are led by highly-trained scientists with a minimum of a masters degree in chemistry, biology, physics or engineering. All team members are fully screened and authorised to work with children.
