Scarily good entries for Beverley Market's Halloween pumpkin competition

A Halloween pumpkin competition held at Beverley’s Saturday Market attracted some scarily good entries.
The spook-tacular pumpkins were carved into a giant head, a skeleton, an owl and even a market stall for the specially-themed event held on Saturday 27 October.
The fun challenge, organised by the traders, was open to both children and adults, and all the pumpkin entries were put on display for the public.
The winners were judged by the Mayor of Beverley, Councillor Bryan Pearson, and Karen Guest from Beverley jewellers Guest & Philips.
Traders also dressed their stalls with Halloween decorations for the day.
Lisa Gray, liaison officer for the Beverley Group of the National Market Traders Association, said: “The pumpkin entries were all excellent and very creative, and the traders all got into the Halloween spirit.
“I’m so pleased people made the effort to come along, despite the cold, wet weather.”
The pumpkin winners were presented with their prizes on the day:
Most creative design – Toffie Rena (won a family ticket to see the Jack and The Beanstalk pantomime at Bridlington Spa).
Aged 13 and over – Michael Bell (won a £50 voucher to spend at Beverley’s Saturday Market).
Aged 12 and under – 1st Jamie Lowey (won a £10 voucher for The Entertainer)
2nd Paige and Leah Newton (won a sweet hamper)
3rd Emily (won an East Riding Leisure family swim voucher).
