ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARDS
Thu 25th October 2018Beverley Rotary Club is looking for recommendations from local youth organisations or applications from interested candidates wishing to benefit from a professionally led residential leadership training course in July/August 2019.
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, or RYLA, is a leadership development programme for young adults sponsored by your local Rotary Club. It is aimed at those in full time education, on vocational training courses or apprenticed in local industry, to help them discover their potential and develop the skills needed to be a leader in their community, career and everyday life.
The course runs for seven days and gives participants the opportunity to:
Gain exposure to leadership scenarios.
Explore problem-solving strategies as part of a team.
Discuss and apply creative approaches to leadership and conflict management.
Build confidence in yourself and what you can achieve.
Meet new people and make lasting friendships.
Learn how to arrange youth activities and community service projects at locally and internationally.
Teamwork exercises are employed to bring people together from different walks of life in a safe environment where everyone can get to know each other without fear of exclusion or negativity.
To be eligible candidates must have passed their sixteenth birthday on the day the course commences and will not reach their eighteenth birthday before the end of the course they attend. The RYLA programme is available at NO COST to the individual, their organisation or parents/guardians. All costs, including travel, are met by Beverley Rotary Club.
“I had the most fun I’ve ever had in my life.”
“The biggest lesson I learned is trust in others.”
” RYLA was a humbling experience because I discovered that all the students are just as “special” as I am.”
” Other people are just as important as you, I learned about working together, working as a team.”
These are just typical comments among those made by the thousands of participants who have benefitted from RYLA over the years. Alice, whom we sponsored this year, simply said “it was life changing!”
