This year, 67 ward seats and 168 town and parish council seats are up for election. Polling stations will open at 7am and close at 10pm.

The counts will take place at four locations across the East Riding – Beverley, Haltemprice, Driffield and Goole and the local council votes will be counted overnight with town and parish being counted the following day.

In order to vote in the 2019 elections, people must be on the electoral register and the deadline for registering to vote is Friday, 12 April.

Registration is easy and an online form can be found on the council’s website – www.eastriding.gov.uk and follow the links to local elections or by going to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

If you are already on the electoral register and have completed the household enquiry forms which were sent out last year, there is no need to register again.

Poll cards for the elections will be sent out in two waves – at the end of March and mid-April but you do not need a poll card in order to vote.

Voters can attend their local polling station and give their name and address in order to be issued with a ballot paper.

Candidates standing for election will be announced on the council’s website no later than 4pm on Thursday, 4 April.

Residents can request a postal vote and the form can be found by going to www.eastriding.gov.uk/council/elections-and-voting/register-to-vote/

The deadline for applications for postal votes is Monday, 15 April.
