Popular Christmas Market Returns To Beverley For 30th Anniversary

The Beverley Festival of Christmas, the largest one-day yuletide market in the UK, will be returning to the town on Sunday, 13 December and celebrating its 30th anniversary.

The festival attracts thousands of visitors to East Yorkshire from all corners of the UK to experience an array of food, drink, arts and crafts, with the opportunity to purchase Christmas presents and visit independent businesses in the town.

Featuring more than 120 stalls brimming with seasonal gifts and local treats, the event is organised by East Riding of Yorkshire Council and sponsored by The Beverley Arms, which is part of the hospitality company, Thwaites.

This year’s event will take place from 10am to 4pm, taking over Saturday Market, North Bar Within and Wednesday Market, with links to Flemingate Shopping Centre.

The annual parade will start at 10am where a range of entertainment, including Santa and his reindeers, will move through Wednesday Market, Toll Gavel and finish in the Saturday Market.

North Bar’s Georgian Quarter will once again feature East Yorkshire businesses and traders and showcase a wonderful array of local producers.

Councillor Nick Coultish, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Tourism at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: "Beverley Festival of Christmas is our flagship tourism event for East Yorkshire and is an important date in the calendar for businesses and traders.

"We look forward to welcoming visitors from all over the UK and are confident that the event will provide a welcome boost to the local visitor economy at such a wonderful time of the year.’’

Rick Bailey, Executive Chairman at Thwaites, added: “At Thwaites, we’re all about warm hospitality, it’s literally one of our founding core pillars. To be able to support The Beverley Festival of Christmas by welcoming people to the town this festive period feels super special.

“Our team at The Beverley Arms has been busy creating magical festive experiences, from indulgent festive dining, to cosy winter stays. This festival celebrates the best of Beverley and highlights this spectacular corner of the country, and we’re really proud to be part of that.”
