A competition is being held to come up with the name of the restaurant at East Riding College’s new £14m Beverley campus.

The campus, which is part of the Flemingate shopping and leisure development, will open in September 2015, and will feature a restaurant which is open to the public.
Now, a competition is being held to find a name for the restaurant and the winner will receive a pamper day for two people.

The restaurant will serve lunch, evening meals and coffee and cakes to members of the public in a modern environment, and enables learners to hone their skills creating dishes for and serving paying customers.

The restaurant at the current Beverley campus is named after Longcroft Hall, the main building on the campus, and in Bridlington it is called Archers after the two medieval archery mounds within the grounds.

Hospitality tutor Paul Kennedy said: “We would like a name which reflects the history of this part of Beverley, which takes in Beverley Minster, the friary and the town’s industry going back hundreds of years.

“We are looking forward to getting into the new campus and serving great food to the regular customers we have known for several years and also the people who will discover the restaurant because of our new location.”

The pamper day for two prize includes a wash and blow dry, two beauty treatments and lunch.
To enter, simply email your suggestion, name and telephone number by June 1 to paul.kennedy@eastridingcollege.ac.uk or post it to Paul Kennedy, East Riding College, Gallows Lane, Beverley, HU17 7DT.

The new Beverley campus will feature 30 teaching rooms with specialist facilities and a large Learning Resource Centre with access to a wide range of digital and printed reference materials.

It will also feature industry standard hairdressing and beauty therapy salons, a restaurant and a travel agency, which will provide realistic training facilities for students and be open to paying members of the public.

All of the College’s Beverley courses will transfer to the new campus from September and the old buildings, in Gallows Lane, will make way for a new housing development.
