Oh My Dog Peggy The Hairless Pug Greets Hundreds Of Fans To Raise Money For Local Dog Rescue Charities

On Saturday 10th August dog boutique Oh My Dog in East Yorkshire celebrated it’s 3rd Birthday with a dog pool party in the centre of Beverley with a special appearance from local Hollywood movie star Peggy the Hairless pug.

The independent shop on Dyer Lane in Beverley saw hundreds of fans come along for the event which featured pawsecco, pawty bags, a pool filled with water and balls for dogs to have a splash around in and Peggy who plays ‘Dogpool’ in the new Marvel movie Deadpool & Wolverine.

Peggy took meeting and greeting her fans all in her stride as she sat upon a chaise longue awaiting those in the queue which at one point stretched to the very bottom of Dyer Lane and onto Walkergate.

Those wishing to meet Peggy were asked to make a donation to charity and in just over 2 hours £574.60 had been raised, which was then rounded up by a local fan to a neat £600.

The total raised will now be split between local dog rescue charities Oakwood Dog Rescue, Hull Animal Welfare Trust, RSPCS Hull & East Riding, Jerry Green Dog Rescue and Hull Greyhound Rescue.

Business owner Lucy Thompson thanked those who came along on the day, ‘I am so grateful for everyone’s kindness and patience on the day. How lucky are we that an actual Hollywood movie star came to our little independent dog shop in Beverley and raised so much money for local dog rescue charities! Just wow!

Peggys safety and welfare came first at all times and she was amazing. A huge thank you to Peggy and her family and I wish them all the luck in the world for whatever craziness comes Peggys way next. They have my full support and by the looks of the queue on Saturday I’m definitely not the only one!’
